An interesting time here |
Hi all; First some background; we live in a valley just south of Carter Lake, west of Berthoud, CO. A couple of days ago the TV informed us that there had been an explosion at the water filtration plant near us and that Hazmat teams were on-site. Residents were being evacuated or told to stay indoors. All news to us, we weren't contacted at that point. Eventually we got an automated phone call telling us the same thing. We had no chlorine smell at our house so weren't too concerned. But then it was announced that access to the area was blocked while the mess was being cleaned up. Fine, except for one thing; that's the only road out of here. We were trapped! Finally toward evening a TV crew showed up at our house and interviewed us for 30 minutes or so for the 10:00 news, out of which they broadcast 2 sentences. I don't know if things are back to normal yet but it got me to wondering what we would do if it had been a fire blocking that road and moving our way.
