Looks like almost pure right-lateral strike slip on the San Andreas, or very near it. I just discovered this USGS map which shows the faults and epicenter a little more clearly than the usual "Index Map of Recent Earthquakes in California and Nevada" (link below).

Did you actually find a reported quake that corresponds to the time your detector alarmed, Cathryn?
