The detector itself is 3-axis accelerometer, and the axis' are marked on the unit. If there is something that the software considers a seismic wave, it records it. It records x,y,and z peak "g" forces; It records whether it triggered the alarm (exceeded adjustable setpoints); It records duration of event; It records date and time of event; All of the data is easily retrievable from the local unit from the LCD display. All you have to do is push a few buttons on the front panel, scroll through the menus, and away you go. If I remember the manual correctly, the 2700 and above have actual download data capabilities though an IR port, but since I don't have the actual manual with me, I can't answer that offhand. Cheers!
