Re: Gorda Ridge Activity and N. Cal Earthquakes |
Hi All - I tend to agree with Don on the Gorda Ridge question. As for the flurry of 3's in the state, they seems to be of 2 types - quite a few in the geothermal areas and then another set along the san andreas fault. The geothermal ones don't bother me and may be due to increased geomagnetic activity stirring things up in the mantle - sounds plausible at least. The few along the san andreas are a little worrisome - the one we had down here in Yorba Linda area was not on the san andreas but it was a strike-slip type quake - I think the san andreas is a bit confused as to where it should be when it comes to southern california - the 2 bends have messed up its trace and it seems to be trying to find a new location for itself - (path of least reisitance) - This Yorba Linda area has been having some interesting activity in the last year or so (maybe a little longer) - Are these quakes foreshocks to something much bigger? I think it would be a big, nasty surprise to people living in the Yorba Linda-Anaheim Hills area to have a good sized quake in their back yard. Canie Follow Ups: ● Re: Gorda Ridge Activity and N.
