Hi Chris - in your post above, you quote a link stating that the Solomon quake's rupture length was 300 km-long, and you note that the max. 4m. slip "seems too small." I've actually not read much at all on this quake (I prefer to wait the several months to a year or so for the low-down skinny to come out), but, in the article Dennis Glasby links to in his post above (which he titles "Doublet"), the Australian seismologist quoted has the rupture length at only about 100 km. (X about the same distance down-dip, for 10,000 sq. km rupture surface), and with only "2 to 3 m. slip". Michael Williams Arroyo Grande, CA USA
