There actually were a number of quakes between 1933 and 1971 - see the link below for an index. I seem to remember something about a deficit but don't recall the details - maybe with Hector last year we're making up for it now. I heard someone state the probability for a quake down here just this last weekend - I don't recall the numbers correctly now - was it 50% probability in 30 years? I guess I just didn't pay close enough attention when he mentioned it. But - it is addressed and no there isn't an increase in the number of quakes.
