I had one pass within 100 feet of my apartment when I was living in Mississippi. Roomie and I were on the second floor with nowhere to go.

We watched shingles fly off of the roof and tree branches from trees in the field in back of us fly over our roof.

It took out the Waffle House sign and some interstate fence, lifted up and touched back down in the next town over, smashing it.

This was at about 11pm.
