M5s 50 seconds apart: Puerto Rico and Antigua |
Let's see how these are updated, but a couple hours ago there was a M5.1 Antigua and Barbuda, followed 50 seconds later by a M5.0 SE of Puerto Rico. Let's see, where is my calculator; glance at map makes it look like 400 km apart, P waves 8 km/s in mantle...that would be 50 seconds...so triggered by P wave? But P wave of a M 5 must be very weak at that distance. I guess Barbara was leaving Puerto Rico yesterday according to her post of Feb 5...let's see, this was not in one of the tide intervals listed on those posts...a tiny tickle of a P wave triggered it but not the earth or ocean tides? Or, did some third thing trigger both? Coincidence?
