There is a rather large geothermal energy field near Obsidian Buttes. So, microquakes at 2 km depth are as likely to be set off by withdrawing steam or putting fluid back in the ground as the deep faults bumping along...actually, probably more likely. And, it is also likely that the wells go deeper than 2 km. See the link. Chris
