M8 and MSc...John V? |
To Michael...I'm not sure that the following is based on patterns of seismicity, but I think it is, and it seems to be taken seriously: The programs M8 and MSc are being used by Vladimir G. Kossobokov to predict where great quakes might occur. M8 has been around for a long time but this is the first time I've heard of MSc. There is an email that was circulated that got to me eventually, but it cautions about "appropriate confidentiality", so I'll leave it there. but perhaps John V. can make some comments, or any of you can google for M8 Kossobokov and see what comes up (I have not). My take from reading this is that everything is experimental and there are good reasons not to put these predictions out too much in public....this is not some conspiracy. Remember what the press did with Keilis Borok's (??) Mojave prediction a year ago? I bring this up because I am sure that this would be of interest to many of you, but I leave it to others to figure out what is appropriate and what is not. (I am not involved in any of this...I just happened to have an interesting email forwarded to me).
