The editing approach I discussed is just one step away from being what most programmers would probably consider to be the "ideal" or ultimate way to create programs. That would be the ability to introduce changes in the program while it is running and have it immediately incorporate those changes. This approach lets you do that by temporarily jumping out of the program. As I said in a note to Skywise, I am going to have to take a look at Xbasic. If it has the ability to generate graphics such as charts, send inforamtion to Windows as if it were manually typed in from the keyboard, and intercept and react to keyboard entries (instead of having them go directly to Windows) then it would be quite attractive. I can already do those types of things with Perl.
