I've been under the weather, but I want to take a look at these geothermic issues. The Salton Sea and the Salton Trough are my main areas of study. Also the Anza Borrego Desert. One of the geologic features I would like to understand better are those volcanic mounts there on the south end of the Salton Sea. Been out there many times. The obsidian was (and is) revered by arrow makers. (Kumeyaay and Chauilla Nations). Also I knew a construction worker who was involved in that geothermal stuff, but he was not in the actual science of it. Look forward to more of your posts.
