Hi Chris, the front edge of the CME just hit the earths
Mag. field about 180 minutes ago. The chart near the bottom
of the linked page shows the north going H bounce in the field
as detected by the Goes satellite. This north connection usually
means that the resulting Mag. storm is not going to be damaging
to earth Technology environment....ie. as servere as a south connection.

Also, I mostly agree with Lowell W. thesis. If the storm gets to
approx Kp level 8 I would start looking for an increase in volcanic
activity after that time period, and for up to 2 weeks after.
It takes time for the gas pressure in the magma chamber to build
and overcome a blockage.

As for correlation over the years, I think it is correct to use the
time of the Mag. storm caused by the CME rather then the Flare time,
that eliminates the CME misses. As a single piece of data, the 1989
San Fran quake occured just after the proton portion of a big CME got
here.
