Re: A Meeting Of The Minds |
Hi Don. Can I agree and disagree at the same time? The day of forecasting all earthquakes may never arrive. (Notice I added the word ALL to your statement) Having tested many known and some obscure methods of prediction, it seems that many work. At the same time, none work all the time. There seems to be many triggers that can contribute to these events. Everything from tides, rain, wind, barometric pressure and others. Then there is the huge variation in magnitude that comes in to play. Given all the variables, how can anyone expect a single precursor to react as if it were in some laboratory. Today we have had an M4.8, M4.6 and an M4.1 here in Taiwan. We have had steady high winds for the last 24 hours at least. Does that mean every time it gets windy there will be an earthquake? Of course not. If in fact the winds contributed, suppose there was no wind. Could these events built up to something that set off various precursors over time? I think so. Even then, various locations in relation to the epicenter could set off various precursors. Living in seismically active areas, there should be less debate over what works and more attention paid to awareness. Of all the possible precursors you know of, if you observe any of them, increase your awareness to your surroundings. Do what you can to prepare for a possible event and look for other possible precursors. Increase your preparedness with any increase in precursory activity. Now to get a little off the wall, I'd like to mention a few observations about these last three events here in Taiwan. This is applicable to this thread since it seems funny to me that anyone would think it impossible for people to be sensitives. (I know you don't fit this group Don) I wonder what they would think when I say I have a light fixture that is "sensitive." The light fixture in my kitchen has warned of earthquakes for the last several events. It is becoming so dependable, soon I'll have enough confidence to make predictions based solely on this fixtures vibration. This morning I was awakened by some very unusual dog barking shortly before the second event of the day. Then later today, I had this intense ear ringing at the same time as the latest event. Of course many things can set off dog barking and it is very undependable. The same as the ringing in the ear. So far the light has been dependable, but I don't doubt that it too may not have the ability to predict all events.
