Re: #5064 - a waste of space? |
You just don't get it do you Martin? Telling people to prepare for what may be coming is not in any way 'predicting' an earthquake and no credit should be taken for predicting such quakes when they occur. I don't object to your re-iterating the facts and dangers, what I take objection to is the inferred importance that you have predicted something. I will be giving a talk myself on the 1933 Long Beach Quake (Today is the anniversary!) next week - part of the talk is a scenario as to what will happen should that quake happen again - and I then end the talk with emphasis on what to do to prepare and during the event. So I agree that people should prepare - but by giving this little speech am I predicting anything? No. Am I telling the population of LA to be on watch? No. Are you trying to say that your governmental agencies don't inform and try to tell your people about the hazards they may encounter? There aren't building codes? No one knows the hazards? If so, I find that pretty hard to believe. I don't think there's a person anywhere in the US that I know of that isn't aware of the dangers Mother nature can provide. Canie
