Hi All. How many of you know that there are videos covering all aspects of earthquake preparedness?

How many of you know where these videos may be obtained and how to obtain them?

How many of you have a VCR and would you be willing to invite people into your home to view them?

How many of you have a TV? I would be willing to bet that most people have a TV, or at least know someone who does.

When was the last time you saw a notice on the TV about these videos and where and how to obtain them? While it may be true that there is a good number of people who do not want to be reminded about the next major quake that may come in their lifetime. Then again there are some who do, but are not even aware of such videos, or even the printed material that USGS will send to you upon request.

USGS is already printing up thousands of brochures and pamphlets covering earthquake preparedness. As they are already doing this it seems to me that the next logical step would be to make a short video to be shown on the TV by the various different TV stations.

No one is asking USGS to hold anyone’s hand although there have been times that when I saw a disaster there was always someone wanting to know why they weren’t told, or advised about this or that.

All that is being asked is to make a video by which the largest mass can be advised about earthquake preparedness. If the USGS can’t do it maybe they know someone who can. At least it’s a starting point. At least think about it. The next major quake could be under your feet this very moment. Are you prepared for it? Is your next door neighbor prepared for it? Is the town, or city you live in prepared for it? Take Care…Don in creepy town.
