The prospect of a 6.5 mag earthquake in the strait of Georgia (San Juans Islands/Gulf Islands etc) Will cause 15 billion in damage and could kill 3000 in Vancouver.(Provincial Emergency Program) That's pretty bad when the Major hazard we face is either 7+ same locale, or a 9m off Cascadia. They did a two full page two days in a row (Vancouver Province, summer 2000)about how we're on our own for a while after a big quake. This country is so hurting financially that a large event could bankrupt the whole country...mb.
