Thought you might want to see this if you have not already. This a brief on the San Jacinto fault and some new work being done on the slip rate in the region. (This shared over on Bopps board by Alexa in earthwatchers). If you go down the article, you will see a link to "Fonts Point", and there is a very good photo of the Borrego Badlands. This is by Becky Dorsey (U of Oregon). The photo is looking back west toward Borrego Springs. If you 180'd the camera, you would be looking right at the bottom of the trough and then the Salton Sea. Interesting area.
