Cathryn...I'm not a seismologist...I'm was a geologist but I use geophysical techniques. I study faults, and I make use of focal mechanisms/hypocenters, so could call myself a seismologist if I had to...but I don't do the detailed kinds of analyses that, say, a Vidale might do. I don't see why the San Andreas fault at Loma Prieta dipping steeply SW would make you sleep any better...??
