Glen, Leonardo (Nano) Seeber worked on the area...had some papers in the 1980s...I never worked on the area except to help prepare a proposal for seismic reflection acquisition in Salton Sea to image the faults...it was submitted 3 or 4 times and rejected each time. Kind of interesting...the last version was not as good as earlier versions....We gave up at that point.

On the other hand, our Marmara Sea Turkey proposal was accepted on the third or 4th try.

Sometimes you learn a lot working on proposals...and all is not lost of not funded...and sometimes it is a massive waste of time. I have an idea for lottery-based proposals......whether you are funded is purely random...but if you fail 5 times in a row you cannot submit again because you must be a loser.
