If you want to see some computer simulations of the Southern San Andreas and the effects it has on the LA Basin, check out the animations and videos at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. I've snagged a few and they are impressive. Warning, they are bandwidth hogs and it's best if you save them to your drive to play them. Even the small files are big.
