NASA doesn't have a civilian InSAR mission flying, although many of us wish they would launch one, but the Europeans and the Japanese do, so we use their data. The seismic waves in the simulation follow the soft fill along a valley from the San Andreas fault into Los Angeles. The soft material makes a wave guide, although whether a real earthquake would funnel energy into LA the same way is an open question. Yuri is one of the best young Professors studying ground deformation around faults. He has been at Scripps Institute of Oceanography for a few years now.
