Thanks for the nice comments. But actually, I am presently only occasionally posting update notes here. For earthquake forecasting technology communications I am part of an informal global group of researchers where so much information is being shared I cannot even stay current with the discussions. One of my primary goals at this time is to create a bulletin board somewhat similar to this one but with posting options that will produce a dramatically different type of post. It will be intended to attract researchers from around the world. Right now many people are in my opinion largely wasting their time with their forecasting efforts. There are great researchers and disaster management personnel out there. But their efforts need to get much more organized.

Government forecasters in the People’s Republic of China appear to be finally moving in the direction I have been recommending for at least a decade. Perhaps the talk on my research which one of my colleagues in that country presented there on my behalf back in 2003 helped. They are reportedly developing something like the program described on the following Web page:
