Hi Glen & Don,

There's nothing spooky or mysterious about that area having earthquakes. Remember our Dear John telling us recently that this area is moving out of the 1906 stress shadow? Well, it is and what you're seeing today is what looks normal, not out of place at all.

From 1979 to 1982 it got pretty busy out there and I did ride through a 6.0 that occurred in Livemore while living in Pinole. I can tell you one thing, it's hard to stand up in a 6.0 at close range. That was a pretty cool quake though because when it struck I was on the phone in the morning with my girlfriend across town (west) and I was telling her, "we've got a good quake going" and we says, "what quake?" and then shortly after it started shaking her house. We weren't that far apart, maybe three miles, but it made a difference. Later that night I went out with some friends in Albany and while I was in my girlfiends very old two story home a good sized aftershock hit and boy her place shook like the dickins. I think it may have been about then when I started to enjoy riding through earthquakes. After that I moved to the burbs of Seattle and didn't feel a quake the entire time I was there. Five years of no rockin' & rollin'. What a snooze.

Don't sweat the small stuff, 3.0's in the Livermore Valley (Danville, Alamo, Walnut Creek, Danville) are not a problem, but a reminder, get ready! Prepare, that's where it's at.
