The finally put up a focal mechanism and it is pure normal-slip (extension). This is near a right-lateral fault, but the geometry has what can be called "releasing stepovers" of "pull-aparts" that are associated with geothermal energy and, in the gulf of California, better developed short spreading centers (which are volcanic centers).
