No Quakes?

Hello,

Lots of phytoplankton in the Gulf of Maine, but no quakes. I find it odd that somebody would think that these oceanic alga blooms would be considered precursory signs of large earthquakes. My suspicion is that the energy of the sun is responsible, not radiated heat energy from the lithosphere. If lithospheric heat drives phytoplankton blooms, then there should be an abundance of theses blooms across all subduction and divergent zones. Anybody know if this is the case?

Just asking...
