I agree, Chris. I've heard (was it from John V. in this forum?) that the state of Indian geosciences leaves a lot to be desired. I was particularly puzzled by the following from the article: "The grinding of plate tectonics essentially couples the temperature of the land with that of the ocean, creating the conditions for plankton to thrive." I'm not a professional, but I just don't see any basis at all for such a claim. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's wrong. Mike Williams in Arroyo Grande, CA
