I would be watching the feral animal behavior. If a bunch of big horn sheep start getting nailed on hwy 86 between Salton City and Mecca, that might be a clue. Or if a bunch of deer start getting "hamburgered" up on I-5 around Kettleman City might be a clue. Better yet, if a bunch of rats start clamoring around Long Beach harbor, I would take notice. Then again, it could be mating season and the pheromones are at hyper max levels...heh heh...
