Re: Why I Wrote the EQ Book. . . |
To Don, Roger, and my fave--Brian... For starters, me, the girl who flunked science, gets the fact that Berkland uses two windows per month--I follow 'em, and yeah, I have predicted quakes and have had accurate hits during both is primary and secondary windows. But here, this is one is for Roger... More from the book. Chapter 18: The Most Important Questions about Earth Changes: Should people reconsider Berkland's seismic windows? JB:Roger, you are childishly trying to hang a guilt trip on me for picking an eight-day period with the greatest vulnerability to quakes. When did I ever say that the risk was over when the window closed? I have always said that there are two windows per month--one associated witht he full moon and one with the new moon. The 9.0 Sumatra quake occurred on the day of the full moon just as sid the last 9-plus quake (Alaska 3/27/1064). All this year I had warned that December would have the highest potential for large quakes in 2004.
