Funny you should make this note. There was 3.2 in Moraga over night, which is right next to Piedmont! Piedmont/Berkley/El Cerritos have been no stranger to magnitude 4 events on the Hayward Fault the last 15 years. And while the Hayward does poes a significant threat, ever since I've followed teh fault for the last 20 years, there has ALWAYS been some kind of weekly activity on it, unlike its neighbor the north (Rodgers Creek) and the one to the east (Calaveras through Contra Costa) that are in seismic gap periods.
