You have the technical term correct. The "belated" term was used during training so firefighters would understand the tardy nature of the explosion. The concept of pressure temperature relationship does not click with every body.
The term "pulsation" was also used to describe large ember internal heat that was starved for Oxygen. The dialect fits the personnel. The term fire storm is also used very loosely. Technically it is an AI, or an "area ignition". I also was a first responder, and remember the chem cards. I imagine the dialect changes with time.
