IP needs one of two things: A. just say copyright, or B: say TM for trademark and one can add "patent pending."

Regarding Copyright one simply says "copyright @ ... one's name and the year."

This I have from a woman who works for a publisher. There are no new ideas in what is being said, it's a story with a statement imbedded into it. I have no doubt whatsoever that you will know what it is when you read it. It is as clear as day.
