Bixby obviously made a valuable contribution in his lifetime. It must have been a joy for your wife and yourself to have known him.

Your post reminded me about something I did intentionally at AGU social sessions and that was to sit with the junior members; those who were just finishing their educations. I wanted to listen to them and hear what they had to say about the work they were about to embark upon. For the most part they were very excited about their futures and knew full well the area's where their interests were focused.

I was wondering if most young graduates actually are able to work in the area's they hold the greatest interest or is it just a matter of what's available?
