I'm not convinced that the quakes listed are for 1988-1997 because the totals for an average year do not equal the totals listed above (on the link) for an average year -- that's why I said I was unclear on what years.

And I have done a search in the ANSS catalog for 2005 of the quakes in California (using the correct long and lat parameters) registering in the M5 range and I still only came up with three quakes in that time period for 2005, not 7 as Roger's list showed earlier.
