Hi Glen and Barbara, One thing is for sure, if you don't let your congressional leaders know that you want more money spent on geophysical research and your special interests, then nothing's going to happen. Though there is no guarantee writing will help, it's better to chance the letter, than just sit and complain. [Re: Parkfield, there is significant funding to Earthscope being spent right now.] Here's some information for you with links. There are 3 people on the House Committee on Science who are from California. Those should be your key focus along with letters to your area congressional leaders. Please remember when writing them, you must address your envelopes and headers to letters as: The Honorable John S. Williams as an example. And only one page should be submitted. Remember, stay on topic, make it short and sweet. Write more than once and ask your friends and family if they feel motivated to write too. You may have to prepare the letters for them, but hey, you really want this money right? Go the distance and make a difference. The reason the water heater bill got underway was because of one single e-mail I sent to the California Seismic Safety Commission. Petra House Committee on Science
