Even though it's a very small sample (33 years) that you present, geologically speaking, I couldn't resist computing the averages. M9 = 0 There seems to be a problem with the number of M2 earthquakes -- over the years you've presented, the number of M2 quakes is consistently fewer than the M3 quakes -- shouldn't there be more M2 quakes? Anyway, based on the 33-yr average of 16 M5 earthquakes per year, we're way behind for 2005. We're not even halfway yet. Perhaps we'll catch up in December and a winner in the contest can be determined.
