FOR ARA |
Ara I didn't get a chance to clarify something w/ you that you kept asking for because you got kicked off... You asked why I did not respond to your response on thrust vs. strike slip. That was because I honestly did not see the response (the thread had sunk so far to the bottom) until you brought it to my attention in your final post. I asked because this is a boar meant for learning. I should feel free to ask a scientific question that is very relevant to what this board discusses. Second, I want to clarify that for a small 3.0, it was a sharp jolt and was felt throughout Los Angeles. I personally thought it was a 5.0 the way it shook my building. If you go to the USGS site and click "did you feel it" you will see over 2,000 responses from zip codes all over West LA reporting the quake. I have been through MANY 3.0 quakes and usually they are tough to notice. With such a strong sensation from such a small quake I was interested to know the scientific dynamics that created it, was it because it was a deep quake or a shallow quake? Did the fault types create the stronger shaking? Anyway I got my answer and there is your explanation of why I wanted to know. Follow Ups: ● Re: FOR Todd - Ara 03:34:29 - 11/11/2005 (30383) (0) |
