Chris & All, Most folks in Northern Cal think it feels like earthquake weather when it is warm and humid. It was exactly that kind of day in the Bay Area when Loma Prieta struck. At 5 o'clock in the evening there were very high thin clouds overhead and it was sticky. A day or so after Loma Preita it rained. But overall, honestly, most of the time I have felt earthquakes, the weather was very nice. Be it morning, mid-day, evening or night time I don't remember it ever being cold. One other interesting item no one ever seems to mention is that if you sleep in a water bed in earthquake country as the earthquakes are occurring it makes water bubbles float to the top at a rapid speed and then you swear you're hearing sonar in bed. I used to live in Pinole (East Bay) and there were more quakes at that time 75-81 than any place I ever resided. I would wake at night and hear this pinging sound and move my pillows over so I could put my ear to the water mattress and sure enough, the next day they would report small earthquakes overnight. Now there's a big difference too. They used to report earthquakes on TV and radio on a routine basis. And for some odd reason frequently I would dream of little Japanese toddlers having a hard time standing up. After those there were reports of earthquakes in Japan. In an odd way, I'd like to be like those years again. It was kind of fun. Petra
