Insurance question (was Re: Before Anyone Says It Again)

Petra- Gary and I are renting, and when we were getting Renter's Insurance AAA stated that anything damaged in an earthquake would not be covered and that we would have to get separate renter's quake insurance to cover our stuff. Because the deductible was $5,000.00, we declined it. When the sales person mentioned our computers, we laughed, since we build our own systems and replacing them is well under the deductible. While I can understand requiring a separate deductible for homeowner's earthquake insurance, it seems a bit ludicrous to split it on the rental level as well. The deductibles for homeowner's quake policies are astronomical, so not many people who I know have it because paying the 30-50,000.00 deductible would bankrupt them anyway... Mary
