Re: Shans' Site - Thank You Glen! |
Hi Glen. I have been following Shan’s method for a number of years now. The best I can determine is that it is similar to a tilt meter. I have seen indications of tilt in the Parkfield area before two quakes there. Unfortunately neither was before the recent M=6.0 quake. Nothing, nada, zilch was seen before the M=6.0 quake. The problem with Shan’s method is that he is only one person making the readings. It may be that if there were more people taking the readings it would be something like a seismologist using seismographs to determine the epicenter of a quake. Not sure if they would have to be located on the same continent, but I’m fairly sure they would have to be located in the same hemisphere. I also think they would all have to take the readings at the same time, or as close to the same time as possible. Until as such time as more people start taking readings using Shan’s method he will never be able to prove what he does nor will the accuracy be any better then what it is now.
