Hi John, I like your style. The shirt your wore last year with the red in it was quite nice. But let me clue you in when I tell you this truth. People develop instant reactions to others and one only has 30 seconds or less to make a lasting impression. Yep, just a few short seconds and it may take a long time to reverse the first impression if necessary. When you look at someone who is rather dull looking and speaks in a monotone voice, I don't care what great discovery they have on hand to share, because no one's going to notice. That may be a sad fact, but that's the way people are and it's quite natural. So if someone wants to get anothers attention, then they had better dress well, speak up and act like they are about to set the world of science on its ear or they'll be in the back of the unit for forever. You're an educator...don't forget to give your students the finer points.
