All,
Someone just sent me a notice that Simon Winchester will be speaking at Stacy's Books in SF on October 21. The subject is his new book "A Crack in the Edge of the World," about the 1906 quake in San Francisco. (I've been looking for a book on this subject and didn't know Winchester had one forthcoming! )
Anyway, hope this might be of interest to others here.
