Bay Area Quakes: 1906 reading recs? |
Hi Don and friends, Do you have any reccommendations for books about the 1906 quake? I'd like to read more about it, not only the quake itself, but how everything played out in the area -- how the communities recovered, etc. My grandma & family were in the 1906 and ended up living in Golden Gate Park because their house was ruined. Grandma's sister died in that tent city "of a spider bite" (she was 8). Now this is totally off topic, but please indulge me. I had a strange dream last night. In it, I was like a fly on the wall (I seemed to be invisible) in an airplane that was flying, but which appeared to be empty except for one man sitting in the empty passenger area. I saw his face up close, a very beautiful face and I felt like I recognized him but didn't know where from. I knew he was an important person and I couldn't believe he was here now, because something was very wrong, though I didn't know what. At this point-in real life-my cat woke me up. So that was strange. I complain about the cat, but maybe I wouldn't have remembered the dream if she hadn't woke me up. For whatever the dream is worth. Cats these days. Keep well.
