Hi Kiddo. I suppose that is always possible, but I won’t hold my breath waiting for it. We had an M=5.4 in August of 1998. I will have to admit that quake got my attention. It centered about 6 miles west of where I live. It didn’t do much damage other then making a mess in some of the stores and making a wreck out of some peoples nerves. Shortly after the Loma Prieta quake Mal at the USGS told me to expect a quake in the San Juan Bautista area. Had no idea as to when it might occur though. As you well know the theory is that the next quake to occur on a given fault will be near the ends of the rupture of the previous quake. San Juan Bautista was near the southern end of the rupture from the Loma Prieta quake. The northern end of the rupture stopped short of Black Mountain. Black Mountain appears to have an influence on how the fault ruptures towards the south. It is felt that it slowed the rupture of the 1906 quake and that is why we don’t see the same amount of displacement south of the1906 epicenter as we see towards the north. That’s fine with me. It can rupture towards the north all it wants to. It won’t hurt my feelings one bit. Take Care…Don in creepy town
