I just want to correct some of the data - as for a CME headed for the Bay Area - I would say that's a bit overstated.

Here's the Geomagnetic forcast as of this morning:

The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to active on April 2-3. On April 3 or early on April 4 a CME could impact Earth and cause unsettled to minor storm conditions.

So - its could, as in maybe a CME is on the way and we don't know that its headed for the Bay Area - we don't know where it will hit, but we can be sure that the geomagnetic field may be a bit active.

I was talking with a friend in Berkeley Saturday and he mentioned it was unusually hot up there.

Isn't the Hayward fault overdue for something ?
