Good and valid points to me....I think this discussion has come up a number of times on sci geo EQ. The thoughts at the time were many, including.... how accurate would we have to be to displace thousands of people from their homes for any period....Bets are that not many would leave.... Ed Spring has really been developing a world-wide network of governmental officials, some of whom actually have taken actions based on his posts... having spoken with Ed a number of times...I still do not know his methods but he is constantly refining them. Even if his system of prediction is a bit off, his methods of notifying governments and emergency agencies is well in place. He dropped most of the groups over a year ago to put all of his energy into his notification system and he is not afraid to defend it. If I were driving home or knew somebody driving home under that lousy bridge in Oakland during Loma Prieta, I would have been devastated. The pictures told the tale. If there were any way those lives could have been saved, then all of our efforts would be worthwhile....I think it is about time we started figuring out a way to actually track hits and misses, but first we must come to grips with the different methods of predictions. They vary widely from ear tones, to vertigo, to mental lapses as in my case.... From what little I know of Project Migraine, a small central collecting group took the phone calls about the predictions and records were kept...Perhaps someone should ask Charlotte King about that....but Ed Spring does know as he was in contact with the man in charge of Project Migraine a number of times........Perhaps I'll ask him and report back.
