Don...interesting. I'm kind of curious what your take is now on what should be done...as I've picked up some sort of anti-government/right wind slant from you (that may not be correct): what do you think should be done by government to protect people from disaster? Get something like FEMA working, or leave people to fend for themselves like wolves? Also...it would be interesting to discuss on this page what should be done with New Orleans? Abandon parts amd put high levees around higher ground? If global sea level rises 2 feet in the next 100 years while New orleans sinks 3 feet (I think that is the rate for sinking there...needs to be checked), would need levees able to withstand 25 foot surge plus 5 feet = 30 feet. Untold billions to do this. I'm guessing the storm surge at Lake Pontrachain.northern New orleans levees was 10 or 14 feet...not more, but would like to know the actual level (10 feet plus as low as 14 feet below sea level makes up to 24 feet of water=over the roof).
