Funny how things work - yesterday my computer went down - all of a sudden it dodn't know how to deal with an .exe, .lnk and .com file... but it really did.. it was just confused..

I fought with the dang thing for a while - tried looking up info on microsoft's site (this is the third time Keith has seen this happen on an XP machine) - couldn't get it to work - wouldn't do a 'system restore'...So, I copied recent data off to the external drive - restored a backup from about 3 weeks ago.. even doing that, the darn thing wouldn't work....

So, I was able to get into the registry this time (something must have been working) and fixed some registry entries for .lnk, exefile, .exe.. and now it works..

I think an 'automatic microsoft update' is what bombed my system... Does anyone know why I love Unix?
