It is of a magnitude for which a local tsunami is possible but unlikely. The Pacific Tsunami warning center probably correctly said there is no chance of a tsunami IN THE PACIFIC, which is the only territory they cover, last I checked. That was part of the problem with the Sumatra quake, it was outside their turf.
