I already posted how much evidence I require |
Petra...I already posted on this thread what I would like to see before taking the landfalling hurricane on opposite coast theory seriously...I would like to see a plot of moment release on the west coast (say, California for example) for the last 30 years with all landfalling hurricanes for those 30 years plotted by date and by Category (1, 2...5). Date on the X axis, moment release on the Y axis. Hurricanes by date with category on the Y axis. same plot. It would then be very easy to look at to see if there is a significant relationship. I give Lowell a lot of credit for distant quake triggering by P and S waves...he wrote this up for his Ph.D comps 2 years before Landers....and some of his other ideas are liable to be correct. But, I have become concerned that when Roger has plotted up some of the relations, there seems to be nothing there. It is true that Roger (and I) have not tried to exactly duplicate what Lowell did, but on this page there have been claims that seem exaggerated compared to what I casually observe and what Roger produced.
